HABERDASHERY

Haberdashery is a huge department encompassing all manner of garment accessories. Our American cousins are probably more familiar with the term ‘notions’ which includes threads, elastics, pins, needles, hooks & bars, bindings and so on. Generally speaking, haberdashery is divided into two categories: ‘hard haberdashery’ and ‘soft haberdashery’ which is exactly as it sounds. ‘Hard’ haberdashery is generally of the metal variety including pins, needles, and sewing tools. ‘Soft’ haberdashery would include shoulder pads, bias binding and many other products that cross over into the trimmings territory. Buttons proudly bridge both categories and come in practically every material known to man.
