About us
Since 1902 MacCulloch & Wallis had supplied the fashion trade with fine fabrics and trimmings from the same central London premises between Oxford Street and Bond Street in the heart of Mayfair. Until April 2015 the store still looked much the same as it would have done in the decade before MacCulloch & Wallis moved in when a cross-legged tailor sat in the window plying his trade. After many seasons of squeezing yet more and more stock into what seemed to be a shrinking space we moved to a more open and accessible space in Soho.
After saying goodbye to Dering street and moving 400 paces East from Oxford Circus into the heart of theatreland we continue to ply our trade in our exciting 'new' shop at 25 Poland Street where you will now find us. The stock is now tidily arranged over two large floors, rather than five small floors, so we can spend less time looking for errant stock and more time helping you to choose it.
Now it's 2024 and having made it through the pandemic and out the other side we're still here plying our trade in Soho and online. We have seen more film companies passing through with the Covid months of online entertainment spawning an explosion in streaming services. We also now have a large and unique range of knitting yarns and have expanded our merchandise generally to accommodate our customers' growing needs as many of our neighbours have moved away from Central London.
